Founder of LA Math Tutoring David Jia

LA Math Tutoring was founded by David Jia with the goal to empower people through education.

David Jia began tutoring professionally at 17 years old in the subjects of math and reading for Kumon Learning Center. After attaining a perfect 800 math score and 690 English score on the SAT, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Miami. While working towards earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he continued to tutor privately. Following graduation, David moved to California, where he studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and taught for several local tutoring agencies. Finally after years of teaching for other tutoring companies, he decided to start his own business: LA Math Tutoring.

Throughout David's teaching career, he has tutored countless students of all ages and grades (children and adults), in groups and one-on-one, and in the areas of test preparation, academic support, and special needs. He has expertise with preparing students for various exams, such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, GED, etc. Additionally, he has collaborated with major textbook companies Larson Texts,  Big Ideas Learning, and Big Ideas Math as an instructor for their educational online videos. Furthermore, David is a published author on wikiHow.com, teaching a variety of math topics. Although he loves teaching math the most, David also has experience tutoring reading, writing, science, guitar, music theory, Mandarin Chinese, chess, and blackjack strategy.

At LA Math Tutoring, we believe in three core principles:

  1. Everyone learns differently
We personalize each student's learning experience with specialized attention, customized study strategies, and flexible lesson plans. By catering to individuals, we accomplish more.

  2. Productivity should be positive
We believe that achieving one's full potential requires an optimal balance between reaching higher and staying grounded. With encouragement, we can step outside our comfort zones while staying stress-free.

  3. Education goes beyond school
We strive to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation. Our goal is for our students to learn how to learn, so that they ultimately leave the classroom to apply their knowledge and make our world a better place.

Whether you're looking to catch up or get ahead,
